This seminar will help chambers and local exporters understand their responsibilities regarding Certificates of Origin.

Certificates are used to identify the country from which the goods originate. These certificates allow Customs officials to assess duties and taxes in accordance to international trade agreements.

Businesses that are exporting overseas can obtain Certificate of Origin from local Chambers of Commerce. For a Chamber to validate a Certificate of Origin, it needs verification in the form of written documents that the goods being shipped are indeed of US origin.

Topics to be covered:
· What are Certificates of Origin
· What are the different types of certificates of origin
· What documents are used to validate a origin claim.
· How do NAFTA certificates work?
· What liability is a Chamber subject to that validates them.
· What are resources are there to assist Chambers and local exporters.

Handouts and examples of various documents will be supplied to those attending this workshop.
