The 5th Los Angeles Asian Film Festival Golden Diamond Awards ceremony closed, Golden Diamond Awards winners list released

Dec 19, 2023 – Today, The fifth Los Angeles Asian Film Festival Golden Diamond Awards ceremony successfully ended in Los Angeles. The fifth Los Angeles Asian Film Festival Golden Diamond Awards nominated films include the United States, China, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Canada, Indonesia, Iraq, Thailand, China Taiwan and Hong Kong and other countries and regions, a total of 100 film works were nominated, 20 film works and 2 special awards won the Golden Diamond Award.

Asian Film Festival Announces Winners of 2020 Golden Diamond Awards

Nov 21st – Beverly Hills, CA -– The 2 nd Annual Asian Film Festival Los Angeles (AFF ) 2020 announced the winners of the festival’s 2020 film competitions today at the Maybourne Beverly Hills Los Angeles. With the festival following COVID-19 pandemic, the festival did not host a live Golden Diamond Awards ceremony this year, with a virtual awards ceremony. The 2nd Golden Diamond Awards of AFF Los Angeles featured twenty competitive categories: Feature, Foreign Language Film, Documentary, Animation, Short Film, Documentary Short, Student Short Film, Director, Director Short Film, First Director, Director Student, Script, Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Music, Actor, Actress, Child Actor and Child Actress.

The Asian Film Festival Los Angeles Chairman Holmes Stoner Said, “This year’s program featured so many wonderful films, and we are grateful to our jurors for selecting our award-winning films, We thank and congratulate all of the filmmakers who shared their films with the festival this year and look forward to great things from each and every one of them.”

The 2nd annual Golden DIamond Awards were unlike in our ceremony history in this age of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hundreds of filmmakers incuding directors, actors and crew from different countries and regions congratulated AFF via video. The Asian Film Festival Los Angeles 2020 was originally set to take place on Nov 1st -14th, however it will be rescheduled due to the pandemic.

AFF Hosts Virtual Asian Film Festival during COVID-19 Pandemic release with the continuing spread of the coronavirus, Asian Film Festival Committee reached out to the trade community virtually to keep industry engaged when it hosted its virtual Asian Film Festival Los Angeles 2020 between November 1st -14th 2020.

“In the midst of this global pandemic and the vast challenges we’re all navigating, I really believe coming together in this way shows our collective commitment to continue our persistent, ongoing dialogue and candid discussions about the most pressing issues facing AFF and you, the film community,” said AFF Commissioner Chairman Holmes Stoner in his welcoming address on Nov 7th 2020.

Due to the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2nd Annual Golden Diamond Awards will not have a live audience or a red carpet. The Golden Diamond Awards and its production teams will adhere to safety guidelines.

2019 AFF Asian Film Festival Golden Diamond Awards Ceremony held in Los Angeles

On December 12, the AFF Asian Film Festival grandly held the Golden Diamond Awards at the Millennium Bitmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Nearly a thousand Hollywood and guests from all walks of life, filmmakers from around the world participated in the series of events held on the day. shine. Representatives from the film industry, judges of the Golden Diamond Awards, and founding members of the finalists from more than 50 countries around the world witnessed the first AFF Asian Film Festival award ceremony with guests from all walks of life in the United States.

Jason Quin, Executive Chairman of the American International Chamber of Commerce and Executive Chairman of the AFF Asian Film Festival, said that the AFF Asian Film Festival is based in Los Angeles and leverages Hollywood film talent, technology, management and financial resources to target the global and Asian film markets. Cultural exchanges between the East and the West films have contributed resources and strength to the development of world film art and industry.

Mr. Quin said: Film art is one of the cultural industries with a unique world language. The fast-growing Chinese movies have brought momentum and hope to world movies. Hollywood filmmakers are full of enthusiasm and expectations for Chinese movies.

Attending the red carpet and celebration reception on the day of the awards were Hollywood internationally renowned directors, producers, stars and celebrities, Oscar winner Richard Anderson, and Golden Horse winner Trun Ping Yang.

MBDA Awards Nearly $2 Million to Historically Black Colleges and Universities

WASHINGTON (December 3, 2018) – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), is announcing grant awards of nearly $2 million to four Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In June 2018, MBDA invited HBCUs to propose projects that will achieve one or more of the following objectives: increase their ability to compete for and receive Federal research and development funds; establish partnerships with Federal laboratories and other technology resources; increase Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) entrepreneurship; and compete for Federal contracts.

“Historically Black Colleges and Universities served as the catalyst to creating the black middle class in America and will continue to be the incubator for minority business talent, innovation, and leadership. These important schools generate billions in economic impact annually and are engines for job creation in their local economies across the United States,” said MBDA National Director Henry Childs II. “These grant awards will provide seed money for these institutions to pursue innovative projects and to build more revenue-generating infrastructures to better serve our nation’s future entrepreneurs and workforce.”

The HBCUs that received grant awards include:

Clark Atlanta University ($499,497) to develop a STEM entrepreneurship curriculum that increases student interest in the innovation economy at three Atlanta University Center Consortium campuses.

Howard University ($359,891) to design a technical support model for 11 HBCUs in the mid-Atlantic region to compete for Federal research and development funds and leverage partnerships with Federal laboratories.

South Carolina State University ($404,992) to launch regional training sessions for HBCUs to compete for Federal research and development funds.

Tougaloo College ($695,412) to establish a partnership among multiple HBCUs, private companies, federal labs, and research institutions to increase capacity for HBCUs to participate in federal research and contracting opportunities.

These programs are part of the 2018 MBDA Broad Agency Announcement, a new initiative this year. More than $13 million was awarded for 35 projects focused on Department of Commerce and MBDA priorities from resources that increase disaster preparedness and relief to programs that increase access to capital. U.S. News & World Report Announces the 2016–17 Best Hospitals

U.S. News & World Report released its 27th annual Best Hospitals rankings to help patients make more informed health care decisions on August 2, 2016. U.S. News compared nearly 5,000 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions.

This year the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is No. 1 on the Honor Roll, which has been expanded to highlight 20 hospitals delivering exceptional treatment across multiple areas of care. The Cleveland Clinic is No. 2, followed by Massachusetts General Hospital at No. 3. U.S. News also recognized 504 Best Regional Hospitals in states and metro areas.

In the specialty rankings, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is No. 1 in cancer, the Cleveland Clinic is No. 1 in cardiology heart surgery and the Hospital for Special Surgery is No. 1 in orthopedics. A total of 153 hospitals were nationally ranked in at least one specialty.

The Best Hospitals methodologies include objective measures such as patient survival, number of patients, infection, adequacy of nurse staffing and more. Methodology updates made for 2016-17 include:

U.S. News evaluated hospitals in four new areas: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, aortic valve surgery, colon cancer surgery and lung cancer surgery. Read more.

U.S. News made further adjustments to account for the socioeconomic mix of patients treated at hospitals. As a result, a hospital will not be negatively impacted if it sees large numbers of low-income patients. Read more.

U.S. News credited hospitals that voluntarily make key data public in cardiology & heart surgery. The change reduced the weight reputation has in the specialty.

Activities

Membership Meetings – AICC invites all of our members, and interested guests, to attend membership event. The guest speakers will give an informational presentation on current topics of interest to the foreign business community in the United States.

Seminar & Luncheon Programs – AICC hosts day-long, half-day and luncheon presentations on a regular basis, featuring in depth coverage of current, relevant topics. These gatherings also offer members an opportunity to meet and talk with decision-makers in an open and informal atmosphere. The seminar programs are aimed at enhancing business and interpersonal skills for professionals at all levels.

Committee Meetings – Committees play an important role in the creative aspect of the Chamber, as committees identify relevant industry specific topics and design forums for further discussion and education.
